Updating from Snow Leopard to El Capitan. So the last time I built a Hackintosh was back in 2012 and I'm ready to install something newer. My rig right now has snow leopard installed. Here are my components: Gigabyte Z68 UD3H-B3. I7 2600k Sandy Bridge. Im super ready to upgrade. How to Perform a Clean Install of OS X El Capitan. Like Maneesh, back then I got Java 1.7 installed but somehow applications can't recognize after fooling the OS. Anyway after the upgrade, I had my Apache/PHP and mod-jk stuff not working. David's 2010 MacBook Pro has OS X 10.6.8 and some sites don't support older versions of Safari on Snow Leopard. Leo says that David may need to upgrade his OS. But the question is, can he? The latest update says you can't update to Sierra unless he has 10.7 or later. So he needs Lion. He can't upgrade straight to the latest version. So search the app store for OS X Lion.

I am trying to upgrade my Mac Book 5,2 from Snow Leopard to El Capitan.
I understand that I can download it from Apple Store if (and only if) I connect to Apple Store from a system running Snow Leopard (https://itunes.apple.com/app/os-x-el-capitan/id1147835434?mt=12).
I did it and it seems every is going fine: I am redirect to the Apple Store 'Os X El Capitan' page and I can start the download, but it is very-very slow and a few minutes later the download fails (many-many times.).
